spring organizing & editing & creating....

Spring! is almost here and with it comes so many ways in which we unfurl our winter coats, shake the grey skies from our souls and listen more to our earth and the brown in our gardens calling to be greened.
I need to spring clean. organize. edit. re-arrange.  Really. I do. However, more importantly these days, is not only the cleaning and the scraping and the editing that needs to happen, but I often need to remember what comes out in moments of creativity. Not all of it needs to be thrown out with the bathwater in this busy time of change.  Sometimes, what we say, or perhaps what we write or create, is all crap, which does need to be disregarded; yet other times, we have insight that is well, actually insightful, & perhaps most insightful for our very own self.
         For example:
I wrote a post, which was actually a series of posts, almost two weeks ago, called "the best blogging bootcamp advice for beginners." I thought it was genius. well not pure genius, but it was something I needed to write & then I added pictures to the words to engage the reader a bit more, you can click on the links above to see the actual posts. However, almost two weeks later, and just days before the equinox, which is true spring, I urgently need to remember these words again. SO I write them here, again mostly for me, with a few added words of advice, probably just for me, but perhaps you may like it as well...

the best blogging bootcamp advice for beginners is...

...follow your heart, follow your soul, let who you are guide you.
Know the blogs you love, and know the blogs you don't like...try NOT to emulate any of them. just Be.Your.Self.
listen to small things.
Sometimes you need to just close your eyes & step away from the screen.
Remember to laugh as often as you can...sometimes this is all very silly & not so serious.
Be prepared, be more organized, learn how to swim. even then, nothing prepares you for tornadoes and earthquakes...you just have to blog through them.

drink water.
often.
it will excuse you from having to stare at the screen for inspiration.

if you mess up, don't get the wording right, or blunder a post, remember to apologize(mostly to yourself), take note, then let it go.

Read. Read often and evermore. However, don't let the only thing you read be blogs. Really. You will start to sound like one when you talk.

Disregard the trolls out there. but remember the kinfolk, always remember the kinfolk.
Also, remember to be your own kinfolk -don't be a troll unto yourself. It is just so very unkind.

so remember to organize, edit & create ...but also to live as much as you can and LOVE a whole lot. This goes for life in general, not just blogging.
happiest of monday thoughts to all.
xxoo

I like this. I like this a lot. SO true. The seasons affect our entire psyche. Unfortunately I'm only at the start of fall (and being hit with a drought no less) so I feel the road in front of me is long. Happy Spring, from the other side of the world :)

    1. oh Sylvia, thank you so much. you brightened my day by your compliment! I cannot imagine what the drought must be like over there...all in the face of fall and winter. I wish you a lovely Fall though, may it bring cooler days and not so dark nights...& plentiful moisture to end the most serious drought. xo

  5. Hi Rebecca, just found your blog through Kate's and I love what you have to say, especially about reading (and not reading blogs all the time or you will end up talking like one, ha!). I agree with your thought on living life as much as we can. Sometimes it's easy to forget that (especially with blogging)
