Oh my sweet boys, what a time you had in North Carolina. You had free run of this place -150acres!
Though you all were quite content with all the water play to be had. Building dams with sticks, jumping in and out of ponds and the river. Canoeing up and down the river with some of your favorite people (your dad, the groom and his brother).
1. Youngest: giddy and cold from canoeing with your favorite person (the grooms' brother, who happens to be your dad's cousin) and then jumping in and out of the lake with him. Cold! but joyful.
2. Middle: happy as a clam to have special one-on-one time canoeing with the man of the weekend, the groom. You stuck to the groom and the groomsmen like glue.
3. Youngest: trying to cross "the swamp" on a wire. I was pleased as punch to get this shot of you.
4. Oldest, you had an awesome time. I love these two shots of you watching all the folks trying to cross the "swamp" on a wire. You seem to be overseeing the whole event. Amused, entertained, yet at times pensive. The last photo of you is my favorite, but the man standing in the background...I wish I could photoshop him out (no offense to the cousin of the bride).

xxoo
What a lovely post. It's been a quiet ordinary week here, no such adventures for us. But some loveliness nonetheless.
ReplyDeleteWe love ordinary weekends too! Right now we are having a very ordinary Sunday. xo
DeleteThey are all incredible shots. I particularly love the one of your youngest crossing "the swamp" on a wire. Wonderful timing. :)
ReplyDeleteJo
Thanks so much Jo! I was truly so thrilled to get that shot. It is my favorite by far. xo
DeleteLooks like a great time! Part of me never wants my daughter to grow up but I also can't wait to spend time canoeing and exploring the outdoors with her!
ReplyDeleteEvery moment of every stage I keep saying oh wow this just keeps getting better. I really miss those baby days though. The snuggles and the sweetness. I do like that all of us have a bit more independence now...and a bit more sleep. xxoo
Deleteoh i love that 3rd shot down, what a great capture! xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Jane! I think it is my favorite of all time. Perfect youngest brother moment! xo
DeleteThe third image is perfect. You must be so pleased with that shot!?
ReplyDeleteThanks so! I am so so pleased with it! xo
Deleteoh thank you! i love the playfulness you've captured in these shots.
ReplyDeleteThanks Gaby! It was a fun weekend and I love being able to share shots of the boys. xo
DeleteLooks like a fun time was had by all! :)
ReplyDeleteIndeed it was! xo
DeleteI love this series of weekly portraits with the visual and written snippets of memorable moments, big and small, for and/ or with each of your sons. So lovely, so thoughtful, and such a treasure for you and them.
ReplyDeleteAlso, loving your new blog header :)
Thanks so Lucia. I am hoping that they eventually will appreciate it as much as I am enjoying capturing them.
DeleteI am also glad you like the new blog header...it will do for now (I am always playing with my blog header. It is the perfectionist in me) xo
Sounds like the perfect place for four boys - and you captured them beautifully. Tell me, does it get any easier as they get older? xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Caroline! mmmmmm....I don't know if it gets any easier -in someways it is harder, but I am definitely getting more sleep now! so thats a bonus. xo
DeleteGreat pics, love the action shot!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Kylie! xo
DeleteWhat lovely photos!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! xo
DeleteEverytime I pop over here, I can just FEEL your love for your boys in every word that you write. Beautiful photos. It looks like it was so sunny there. We are heading into winter so I am missing the brightness.
ReplyDeletePS - love the header.
Gosh, your words made me smile so and feel all mushy. Thanks so very much.
DeleteGlad you like the new header as well. Will have to see how long I keep this one. xo
Stunning photos! Looks an amazing place x
ReplyDeleteThanks so! We did have a grand time. xo
DeleteLooks like you had a fantastic weekend ... the pictures really capture the fun, contentment and warm weather ... lucky you ;0)
ReplyDeletexx
We did have a super fun time! It is always the best to see the boys out of the door doing what they love -being out doors and making messes. xo
DeleteRebecca these photo's of your boys are just beautiful, love the black and white and nature shots! Such a sweet family you have! xx
ReplyDeleteOh, and I LOVE your new header, so pretty, natural and simple!
Thanks so much Jennifer. I keep changing the header around...hopefully this one will last more than a few weeks. xo
DeleteThis post is one of my favorites - the photos are wonderful!!! You captured your boys perfectly. Such sweet, sweet faces. Those are the best getaways the kids are comfortable and busy having a blast and exploring. Everyone is spending time with loved ones - they always seem so short - but maybe that is why they are so special!!!!!
ReplyDeleteChey xo
I think the shots are so good as the boys are in their complete element. Happy, playing, in nature.
DeleteWe miss all of our east coast family, but if we moved back out there, we would miss our west coast family.
Short but sweet time spent with family is always so special...I think you live a bit more fully knowing it is so short. xo
Rebecca-
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing better for boys than a giant plot of land to explore. They looked like they had a great time and you did such a great job capturing it.
Thanks so much! The boys had the very best time out there. The love of wide open spaces is in their blood. xo
DeleteThat 3rd photo is brilliant! Such movement. Looks like an amazing place x
ReplyDeleteI think the 3rd photo is the winner for the week! perhaps even for the year. xo
DeleteWhat an amazing capture of your son jumping! I love that you can even see his hand letting go aswell. Pensive does dum up your eldest really really, almost worried even. Don't worry about the man in the background I think it adds to the mood of the pic, as there is obviously something of interest going on in that direction.
ReplyDeleteThanks so Sophie for your thoughts! I am glad you have a positive perspective on the man in the background. It makes me smile to think he helps with the point of view (clearly off screen). And that oldest of mine, he is the oldest so he has a naturally inclination to worry. :-) xo
DeleteRebecca thanks so much for including me in your blogpost for 20/52 it really made my day with two sick little ones at home right now. Thank you. X

DeleteI was always scared of boys, but after having one of my own I've come to see that they can be the most wonderful, sensitive and caring by nature - your boys look like that and so much more. I love your pictures - captured so beautifully/
ReplyDeleteNina x
Thanks so Nina. I was intimidated by boys too, but I kinda always knew I would have boys rather than girls. They are fun, but boy they wear me out some days! xo
DeleteOh wow, this looks like fun! And 150 acres to roam through? What an adventure!
ReplyDeleteIt was really quite an adventure! We all had a fabulous time! xo
DeleteWonderful photos. My son is only 4 but I am looking forward to seeing what sort of young man he grows into. x
ReplyDeleteOne day they are 4, the next they are 8! or so it seems. Oh these busy, busy boys here at our house! xo
DeleteI love the black and white photos - especially the one of your youngest crossing the river. Lovely moments captured! x
