So instead I have culled a list of links to peonies that I have found from around the blogosphere and I have brought them here to you. An odd hedgerow of sorts, cut from the wilds of the internet.

Well the last one doesn't have peonies in them, but alas, I couldn't resist putting it in.
What have you found? Are there peony posts that I am missing? Hope that your mid-week is not as messy as mine.

Hi! Your blog is inspirational. (I am Steph from our Bluebird Baby class!) We're having fun, aren't we?
ReplyDeleteOh hello! so so lovely to have you here! Class IS so fun and I am thrilled that you stopped by! thanks so. xxoo
Deleteposy gets cozy has some lovely flowers. amazing photos. i think they are peonies. check the last few posts there.

Dashing over to check it out! Will be updating. ASAP.

XO, meant.

But XP was so racy.....xo
DeleteCan't beat peony (or twelve). I included one in a recent post on my blog - I love how they fade from their glorious colour and still manage to look wonderful weeks after you buy them. x
ReplyDeleteOh Suzie I am dashing over there as well! I concur with your sentiments. Peonies are somehow oh so strong, hearty, and beautiful. yet somehow, they evoke in us a longing for something beyond the day to day.

I, too, love peonies. I planted 4 bushes and only got 2 blooms this year, so I've had to buy them from a local market, too.
ReplyDeleteSadly I have no peony bushes. I wonder why you only got two blooms though...I always think it has to do with pruning in the fall. Not cutting back enough, but alas I am not an expert... Anyone?
DeleteThanks so much Jill for stopping by!
xo
Remember how hardy they were in Denver! It's certainly true with peonies - you can't have spring without the winter! Peonies need a hard freeze to create such ruffled sweet scented blossoms. I continue to try to grow them in California but they really don do well here.
DeleteOh Lisa! you are so so wise. I have currently shelved any thought to grow them here now that you say that they need a good hard freeze to bring about their beauty! However, I now love peonies all the more now. symbolic of all things given and growing and living, made more beautiful from the harsh wintering. xxoo
DeleteAww thank you for mentioning my little blog dear Rebecca :) I'm so touched + tickled... and thanks for sharing the other blogs as well. Wow! Seems we're all just smitten. (I need to try my hand at underexposing... the effect is so dramatic). Your peony shots are beautiful, they make me miss mine all the more. I meant to pick some up this morning, but didn't get the chance. Hope your littlest one gets well soon - xo
ReplyDeleteCatherine! I meant to mention that I really think YOU started the peony craze (not just in me -but in all others). That you were the spark for this spring blogging craze of peony bliss. I will revise/update ASAP. This also goes to show that I shouldn't blog AND get ready for a field trip at the same time. SIgh.
DeleteThe youngest IS better. His eye is much improved and after his re-check from the Doc, he has the green light to return for these last few days of school. thanks so so much! xxoo
These are lovely! I got some peonies for Mother's Day from Whole Foods, and I really need to treat myself to some more. I wonder if I could plant some here in Texas?
ReplyDeleteThanks so Catherine for your sweet words. I wonder how well they would fair in Texas? After having read the wise words of Lisa Logsdon, I am not sure I would try them out here where we live. But oh how I love peonies! It would be bliss for sure to have some bushes around. xo
DeleteI love them so much I got one tattooed on my forearm just over two years ago. So did my partner. They are the traditional flower of China. After we lost our baby girl (second trimester miscarry) I knew we needed to do something special to remember her. This is coming out jumbled as it is still hard for me to talk/write about. But the flower is not only beautiful, for me it holds such powerful emotions.
ReplyDeleteOh this brings tears to my eyes, how symbolic. how precious. how beautiful.
DeleteMy love peonies continues to grow. xxoo
Just stunning, I agree and inspirational!!
ReplyDeletethank you so much! xo
DeleteI am obsessed with peonies too....so much so that I sneak through the backyards before the sun comes up and cut a few from my neighbor's bush. Sometimes she leaves some in a jar for me with a little note.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy yours and have a lovely rest of the week ~
xo Sarah
Oh Sarah, how absolutely lovely. lovely! I can just imagine how lovely it is to find some in a jar on your front stoop with a little note. Oh the delights of this world! xo
Deletegorgeous photos. I love peonies and have also been taking lots of photos of them, they're so hard to resist! I also had them in my wedding bouquet so they hold a special meaning for me! Most recently, I bought some like the ones in your 1st image, so very pretty x
ReplyDeleteOh Charmaine! How delightful. I wish I had been clever and had them in my wedding bouquet. How perfect! xxoo

DeleteLove peonies! I recently finished some courses in floral design and they are one of my favorite flowers to work with. Love your photos too!!
