backpacks litter the floor.
forgotten and shirked off for the summer. they smell of forgotten lunches
and the smooshed sugared crumbs of lost snacks hidden inside the creases of their pockets.
notes and papers are crammed hidden under the leftover books.
laced shoes are all but forgotten.
we are content in this summer tide pool.
running in sprinklers. stung by bees. red chlorine pool eyes
the trumpeting flowers meet our face again.
we relish in the languid call of solstice drinks
and the sun hiding behind our hemisphere for shorter snips of time.
but we wait, ever so tentatively for the moment where we know we are filled with all sorts of happy.
somehow, this Happy, she always comes to great us when we aren't looking.

hopefully you are not waiting for that moment that tells you are happy, instead you are just living into life and letting go of the need to feel happy: just BE. sometimes the happiness was there, all along. xxoo
