portraits of the boys :: 21 of 52

just moments ago,
    seconds even,
the quick smile across your face,
the snap of your fingers,
the brush of your lashes,
a deep full song-sigh
    soft in the night,
you are older.

my heart heaves waves of pride and love for the little boys
who clung to my hand and needed me always to hold them
in moments of weeping sorrow
and dance amongst their waves of joy.
but now. now they are closer to a brood of men
than the gangly limbed babes brought bright into this world.
                the time paces ever faster.
another click of the camera.
and the year will be done.

  2. Love those boy photos - so handsome and sweet. Yes, their lives as little ones are such fleeting moments. I am thinking that we just had 2 full days of gardening - the black flies held off and we got work done - now - my body is fully, completely exhausted, the fingernails are full of black dirt, and my face feels ruddy and touched by the sun.
Thank you for another lovely post.

  4. Goodness me ... your beautiful boys are all so alike ... this week shows it even more than usual.
So similar and yet they each have their own different shade of blonde hair.
Very handsome young men ... the girls will be knocking on the door before you know it :0)

  5. Lovely photos and beautiful words. Oh how fast it goes. My littlest boy will be five next week. He still falls over a lot and needs cuddles, but soon he won't. I know this is how it is meant to be, but it does make me a little sad. In the meantime I am holding him close though. No big adventures this week, just small happy moments to be remembered. Watching my boys run round their school field eighty-five times to raise money for cancer research while the storm clouds gathered. I will have to work soon; I dread missing things in their lives, so I am savouring them even more right now.

  7. They are gorgeous boys! Adorable. My boy is turning 11 soon, but I try to remember how young he still is, and how much he needs his mom. And I need him. I'm hanging onto these youthful moments. :)

  12. Just perfect photos, really beautiful (as always). Having not long seen my eldest turn 18 years old I completely 'get' that feeling that comes with seeing boys grow into young men. It's all to easy to hold on to the past visions of the cute babies they once were - I found it really helped to look forward to the exciting adventures that are laid out before them.

Thanks for your kind words on my blog - and for the love in this post x
